DSISD values and implements arts integration in all classes through project based learning. The arts are an essential element of Electives and Intensives. We also seek to offer a variety of clubs and leadership opportunities through our electives.
We use the Summit Cognitive skills to assess student learning on projects. Rather than each content area having their own separate set of standards, we use a rubric of 36 cognitive skills that students use across all content areas.
DSISD provides ALL students access to “high-value” learning opportunities, such as:
- Advanced Placement (AP) Coursework: Advanced Placement. Program the College Board which offers college-level curricula and examinations to high school students. American colleges and universities may grant placement and course credit to students who obtain high scores on the examinations.
- Concurrent Enrollment-College Credit Classes, which may be taken on- site, CEC or the Auraria Campus.
- STEM: Science, Technology Engineering and Math- All Students have access to the high-value learning opportunities based on current and future work-force demands
